Instructions
1. Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes thoroughly, then pat dry. Slice them into evenly sized wedges, about 1.5cm thick, ensuring uniform cooking.
2. In a large bowl, toss the wedges with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and chilli powder (if using), ensuring they are well coated.
3. Preheat the air fryer to 200°C. Arrange the wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
4. Air fry for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking. If needed, cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the wedges are golden and crispy on the edges.
5. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favourite dip, such as garlic mayo or a yoghurt-based sauce.
Cooking Tips:
For extra crispy wedges, soak the sliced sweet potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before cooking, then pat dry thoroughly before seasoning.
Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary to ensure even crisping.
Add a sprinkle of fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme after cooking for extra flavour.
Storage Advice:
Store leftover sweet potato wedges in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the air fryer at 180°C for 3-5 minutes to restore crispiness.
Avoid microwaving, as this can make them soft rather than crispy.
